As more grocery stores and retailers are making the switch to accepting EMV Chip Cards, many have also started implementing a second layer of protection with requiring a customer’s PIN (Personal Identification Number) with Debit Card transactions. You will notice policy changes such as this from merchants that have never required a PIN or signature for Debit transactions in the past. This requirement by individual merchants is not controlled by the Bank or Discover® Debit. Old Line Bank does not charge customers for using a PIN with their Debit Card transactions.
